Mayors Office
Hello residents and visitors ~
Summer is here and the residents of Mount Victory have been out sprucing their yards and showing there community pride. It is so nice to see everyone out enjoying all that Mount Victory has to offer, including children and families enjoying ball being played on both of our ball fields. It is so nice to see so many people out, not only in the park but, sitting on their porches, visiting with and helping their neighbors, and out getting exercise walking and jogging around the village and on the walking path.
In the spring Council approved Bassett and Associates to come up with
a plan for revitalizing the Mount Victory Village Park. These plans are available for you to look at in the windows at the Village Hall and at the Plaza Inn. All of the council members have a copy as well as the CDA Friends of the Park members if you would like to see the plans. CDA Friends of the Park raised funds to completely cover the Bassett’s fee for this important master plan that will be in use for years to come as we implement upgrades to the park. CDA Friends of the Park and your Village Council have all been working hard – first by gathering your opinions through the resident’s survey process, then working with Bassett to include your ideas into our Park as place for everyone to enjoy. We are all very enthusiastic about the project and now that we’re through creating the master plan, it’s time to raise money for the Phase 1 which includes new playground equipment, soccer equipment, a synthetic putting green, new grills and repairing the existing shelters. So please stop by the bank and donate to the park – any amount is appreciated.
We have re-started the Night Watch program. I have been working with Sheriff Keith Everhart to get this program started. I am sorry to say that with the weather getting nice and the economy being bad, this program is necessary. The Sheriff’s Department has had major cuts in manpower, and we need ask for volunteers to give their time to help protect our businesses and the citizen’s properties in our Village. We could still use more help with this, so if anyone is interested in taking part in this project, please contact me.
Your Village government now has a website complete with a community calendar of local events, activities and meetings. Please try to attend these community events. This is a time where you can have fun, spend time with your neighbors and friends and support our Village. The site also has a links page where you can find businesses in our area and local, state and federal government offices. There is a contact page that has all of your Village Office Official’s phone numbers, email addresses and home addresses. We have a lot more planned to go on the site, and I think this site could be very useful to you as citizens as well as being useful to visitors of our village. Come back and visit it often, as it will be continually updated. Visit mountvictory-oh.org and check it out.
I would like to remind all of you again that we welcome your opinions and concerns as citizens of Mount Victory. Please contact myself or any of your Council members any time you feel you need to. We are here for you! We also would like to invite you to attend our meetings. They are held the second Thursday of every month at 7:00pm. Our meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to come and be a part of how your village is run.
Thank you!
Mayor Laura Williams
